Meet the people behind the brilliance
Founder & Director
Tom Crompton
Tom is a qualified accountant who founded The3Key in June 2022, alongside his job until it became a full-time role in January 2023.
His accountancy career started at an accountancy start-up in July 2015 as the second operational staff member. Tom progressed through the ranks here, and the business went on to employ 40 staff when Tom exited. This was the first time he experienced working with creatives.
Tom reconnected with an old colleague after a short break travelling Southeast Asia in 2020 (COVID!) and became the second operational staff member at another accountancy firm specialising in creative businesses. During two years here, Tom was heavily involved in moulding the services to meet client needs.
After seven years working in accountancy firms, he became the in-house Finance Manager for a group of Industry-leading news and resource companies in the IT Sector. In addition to statutory submissions, his day-to-day duties included streamlining bookkeeping operations, cash management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Tom loves accountancy and probably spends too much time doing it. Outside of accountancy, Tom’s pleasures are pretty simple: walking, reading, the gym, sunsets, and holidays!
Accountant
Charlie Parkes
Charlie was our first staff member in January 2024, and The3Key is his first accountancy role after working in people relationship roles. Charlie is currently completing his accountancy exams, achieving an average of 95% in his most recent batch of exams.
Charlie is a mentality monster. He’s fitness-obsessed. He does 20-mile runs for breakfast, runs ultra marathons and squats huge amounts. The Bolton David Goggins.
Assistant Accountant
Josh King
Josh joined us as an assistant accountant in August 2025 at 16 years old and will be studying to become a qualified accountant. He aspires to establish himself as an accountant, as we continue to expand, and support clients with proactive advice along the way.
He’ll be found near a football pitch outside of work. Whilst supporting Bolton, he has ticked off over 50 football stadiums and also plays at semi-pro youth level.
